Uttarakhand, efforts are on to reopen the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway, which was blocked near Vishnuprayag following landslides from Hathiparwat in Chamoli District.

The BRO personnel are engaged in clearing the debris so that the highway could be reopened for vehicular traffic at the earliest possible. The Chamoli district administration has provided the hundreds of stranded pilgrims with free boarding and lodging and other necessary facilities.

Meanwhile, in view of the safety of the pilgrims, the Rudraprayag District administration has been directed not to allow Badrinath bound devotees to travel beyond Rudraprayag till the highway is reopened.
