Punjab Governor V P Singh Badnore today dissolved the state Assembly after outgoing Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal submitted his resignation to him. Prior to it, Badal held a meeting of the Cabinet which took a decision to recommend the dissolution of 14th Punjab Assembly to the Governor.

Later, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh, who is also the party’s Chief ministerial candidate, met the Governor and stake claim for government formation. Earlier, he was elected leader of the Congress Legislature Party at a meeting this afternoon. After meeting the Governor, he told reporters that 16th March has been fixed as the date of swearing-in of new government in the State. Amarinder Singh said, he will travel to Delhi on 14th March to hold discussions with the Congress High command.

After the BJP legislature party meet in Panaji today, party MLA Michael Lobo said, the party MLAs have passed a resolution seeking BJP national president Amit Shah’s nod to elect Manohar Parrikar as state legislature party leader.

The party has also appealed to non-Congress winning candidates and their parties to support BJP for political stability in the State. MGP MLA Sudin Dhavalikar said that his party is ready to extend support to BJP in Goa if Mr Parrikar is the leader.

As Lok Janshakti Party and Naga People’s Front coming out openly to support a non-Congress political coalition and National People Party(NPP) President Conard Sangma’s reported meeting with BJP leaders the last afternoon for a post poll coalition, BJP may also arrange a command on 30 seats.

However, both the scheme of Congress and BJP are not easy to materialise the magic figure of 31.BJP in-charge of the state Prahlad Patel and Convenor of the North-East Democratic Alliance Hemant Biswa Sarma have today met its newly elected state legislators at Imphal and discussed on the formation of a new government in the state.

They told mediapersons that a clear picture on the formation of a new government is expected by this evening and the party is optimistic on coming to power in the state this time.
