Israeli cabinet on Monday approved the appointment of Avigdor Liberman as the defense minister, the Office of the Prime Minister said. Ministerial appointments of Sofa Landver and Tzachi Hanegbi were also approved. The post of the defense minister was Lieberman’s condition for his party, Yisrael Beiteinu, to join Benjamin Netanyahu’s governing coalition. It has now increased the number of seats in the 120-seat parliament from 61 to 66.
