Satluj River Discharge 18,954 Cusec, Yamuna 1,648 Cusec
April26, 2016 (C) Ravinder Singh ravinderinvent@gmail.com

Just one story is enough to establish that even though Satluj River
has just one Storage Dam but is good enough to ensure 18,964 cusecs of
water supply in PEAK SUMMER season. But on the other hand Yamuna River
Without Storage Dams has just 1648 Cusecs* of flows at Hathnikund
Barage barely that is barely enough for Municipal Supplies among
riparian states. [*Average daily discharge 1064 cusecs]

TOI doesn’t tell is that Bhakra Dam has 1928 Million Cubic Meters of
Water in Store on April20,2016 – even if this is to be released over
100 days – it is 19 MCM everyday or about 8000 Cusecs plus Inflows
that may exceed 10,000 cusecs to even 30,000 cusecs – Satluj catchment
is still getting Snow Fall.

– THUS BHAKRA DAM can maintain over 18,000+ cusecs of supplies right
up to July18, 2016. [In this not considering diversion of 3800 cusecs
from Beas River]

Haryana Neglected Building of Renuka, Lakhwar & Vyasi Dams that could
have stored 1000 MCM of water for Summer Supplies and ensured over
4000 Cusecs of Additional Supplies in Summer Months and DOUBLED
CONSUMPTION of Yamuna River Water.

Haryana was entitled to 9 BCM of Yamuna Waters in 1950-1994 period,
reduced to 5.7 BCM after 1994.

Supreme Court should order Renuka, Lakhwar & Vyasi Dams to be built in
24 months.
