RAKSHA MANTRI FELICITATES NCC BRAVEHEARTS
Shri Manohar Parrikar, Hon’ble Raksha Mantri during his visit to NCC Republic
Day Camp 2016, conferred Raksha Mantri Padak and Commendation Cards to NCC
Cadets for their exemplary performance and devotion to duty at an impressive ‘Investiture
Ceremony’ held at NCC Republic Day Camp 2016, at Delhi Cantt. He was received by the
Director General National Cadet Corps, Lieutenant General A Chakravarty, VSM. A
Contingent of smartly turned out NCC cadets drawn from the three wings namely Army,
Navy and Air Force presented an impressive Guard of Honour to the Hon’ble Raksha
Mantri.
Raksha Mantri Padak was instituted in 1989 and since then it is awarded to the
most deserving Cadets every year for bravery or exceptional service of highest order. This
year the RM Padak has been awarded to Senior Under Officer Satabdi Roy of Odisha
Directorate. Raksha Mantri Commendation Cards have been awarded to Senior Under
Officer Sonika (Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana & Chandigarh Directorate), Senior
Under Officer Milan Khan (West Bengal & Sikkim Directorate) and Senior Cadet Capt S.M
Shahid (Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh Directorate).
Hon’ble Raksha Mantri also visited the Flag Area where he was briefed by the
young cadets about their respective States highlighting various social themes.
In his address, the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri complimented the NCC both for entering
the Limca Book of Records as also impressive performance in sports. Wishing the girl
cadets slated to scale the Mount Everest in May/June 2016 all the very best, he also
highlighted that the NCC is doing a great service to the Nation by transforming the ‘Youth
of the Nation
