Egypt’s parliamentary elections will be held in two stages, in October and November. Half of the country’s governorate will vote on October 18-19, while the second half will cast their votes on November 22-23 during the ‘second stage’ of the elections, the Head of the Supreme Election Committee, Ayman Abbas, said in a statement. Voters outside Egypt will cast ballots in a first stage on October 17-18, and a second stage on November 21-22. If required, the revote will also take place in two stages, on October 26-28 and November 30 – December 2. The registration period for candidates will begin on September 1 and will last 12 days. The official election results will be announced in December so that “Egypt will have a new legislature before the end of the year,” the Committee added.
